Product information "Live of sulfur 100g"
For blackening silver or silver-plated parts.
Sulfur liver is dissolved in water (approx. 2% solution) for the chemical blackening of silver (alloys), tombac and copper. The solution can be used several times, but is only stable for a limited time.
Sulfur liver, these are yellowish chunks with an intense smell of rotten eggs (hydrogen sulfide).
An approx. 2% solution in distilled water is used for silver (alloys), copper
or chemically blacken Tombak.
For partial blackening, the areas that should remain bare must be covered beforehand (e.g. with asphalt paint, order number 326925 or 326107).
Warning: Sulfur liver is slowly decomposed by the CO2 in the air. Always keep containers tightly closed. The aqueous solutions have a limited shelf life (tightly closed
a few weeks to a month). Therefore, do not prepare more solution than necessary. In an acidic environment, sulfur liver is rapidly decomposed into toxic hydrogen sulfide and sulfur. Avoid contact with acids, acid vapors or acidic solutions.
