The workshop OXIDOS (the rusty ones), which manufactures the watch cases in Bogotá, Colombia, has been producing parts for clocks made of sheet metal by hand since 2007. At the beginning of 2013, there were already 30 employees at OXIDOS, including a third young adults between the ages of 18 and 21 who are training as skilled workers in this workshop.
The social orientation of this workshop is exemplary. In addition to the appropriate wages and insurance for medical care and pensions, all employees also receive a share of the total profit for a year. The criteria for the amount of the allocation are the length of service with the company, the quality of work and the family situation. Pregnant women also have the option of doing simple work from home. In this way, they remain connected to the company and continue to be protected by social security. This type of employment relationship is called "satellite".
