An homage to the Type 109 Messerschmitt fighter plane, which was integrated into the German Luftwaffe starting in 1937.
At that time, it was the world's fastest propeller-driven airplane. As a base, the ME 108 "Taifun", which had a pressurized cabin, was selected.
